The death toll in the Arrowverse’s Crisis On Infinite Earths Part 3 was truly epic. The Flash anchored the third chapter, which welcomed Black Lightning (Cress Williams) to the superhero shared universe. So far, Part 1 of the mega-crossover kicked off with billions of deaths as five Earths were destroyed, including Earth-38, the homeworld of Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Superman (Tyler Hoechlin). In addition, Green Arrow died to help evacuate Earth-38, though he was resurrected via a Lazarus Pit in Crisis Part 2. The second chapter also saw Lex Luthor rampage across the Multiverse killing Supermen, including the Man of Steel of Earth-75. Finally, Part 2 introduced Earth-99’s Bruce Wayne (Kevin Conroy), a twisted and mechanized older version of Batman who died after trying to kill Supergirl and Batwoman (Ruby Rose).
Crisis Part 3 escalated the cataclysm to the Multiverse’s breaking point. The superheroes learned that the antimatter wave was fired from an antimatter cannon beneath Earth-1, which was powered by The Flash of Earth-90 (John Wesley Shipp), who was kidnapped by the Anti-Monitor after last year’s Elseworlds crossover. The heroes also learned the identities of the final three Paragons, who are Ryan Choi (Osric Chau), J’onn J’onzz (David Harewood), and The Flash (Grant Gustin) and they join Supergirl, Batwoman, Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), and Kingdom Come Superman (Brandon Routh) as the last hopes of the Multiverse.
Yet despite the sacrifice of Earth-90’s Scarlet Speedster and the help of Black Lightning, the heroes were unable to save Earth-1, the final world left in the Multiverse, and they were betrayed by Harbinger (Audrey Anderson), who has fallen under the control of the Anti-Monitor. Meanwhile, Lucifer (Tom Ellis) gave John Constantine (Matt Ryan) the means to restore Oliver Queen’s soul but Jim Corrigan recruited Green Arrow for a new mission: becoming the Spectre.
As the midpoint to the crossover, Crisis Part 3 left the superheroes at their lowest possible point and darkest hour. At the start of the episode, there were only 7 Earths left in the Multiverse and that number plummeted to zero by the time the episode was over. Here’s the astounding body count in Crisis On Infinite Earths Part 3.
Earth-203 was destroyed along with the Huntress (Ashley Scott) from the Birds of Prey TV series at the start of Part 3.
The Flash of Earth-90 died destroying the antimatter cannon. Flash-90 replaced The Flash of Earth-1 from making the sacrifice. How this affects the fact that Earth-1’s Barry was meant to vanish during Crisis but now didn’t remains to be seen.
By the end of Crisis Part 3, every Earth in the Multiverse was destroyed, including the final world, Earth-1 (which didn’t have a Quantum Tower to protect it from the antimatter wave), accounting for untold billions of deaths.
The Monitor was killed by Harbinger, who was possessed by the Anti-Monitor. As the villainous cosmic being stole his positive matter counterpart’s powers, the Monitor called his nemesis by his real name, Mobius.
After Pariah (Tom Cavanaugh) teleported the seven Paragons to the safety of Vanishing Point, he and everyone on the Waverider was killed by the antimatter wave. This includes Earth-38 Superman, Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton), Elongated Man (Hartley Sawyer), Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), Vibe (Carlos Valdes), Killer Frost/Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Black Lightning, Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch), Baby Jonathan Kent, John Constantine, Mia Smoak (Kat McNamara), and John Diggle (David Ramsey).
Finally, after the Paragons reached Vanishing Point, Kingdom Come Superman was killed by Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer), who used the Book of Destiny to replace him as the 7th Paragon. This effectively means that, along with Oliver Queen/The Spectre, The Flash, Supergirl, Batwoman, Ryan Choi, J’onn J’onzz, Sara Lance, and Lex Luthor are the only people left in the Multiverse to face the Anti-Monitor when Crisis Of Infinite Earths Part 4 begins.
