Dying Light developer Techland announced that the Bad Blood battle royale game will be free for players who already own Dying Light. Released in September 2018, Bad Blood is a unique battle royale version of the popular survival horror game.

The original Dying Light hit the shelves for the first time in January 2015. Set in a post-apocalyptic open world with a day-night cycle, the game narrates the story of Kyle Crane, an undercover agent who fights against zombies in a quarantine zone. The city has been affected by a dangerous virus, so the player needs to escape infected people, who turn into zombies at night. Another task is scavenging for ammunition, which tends to be scarce. In 2016, Techland released Dying Light: The Following, an expansion pack for their best-selling title, which was also well-received by fans.

To celebrate Dying Light’s fifth anniversary, developer Techland announced that Bad Blood will be available for free for anyone who possesses the original game. As Polygon reports, the fans of the franchise will be able to download a copy of the battle royale game for PC, regardless of the platform where they own the original game. To do so, they must access the dockets page on Techland’s official website. “With five years behind us, I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for the support, feedback, and faith you keep on giving us," said Paweł Marchewka, Techland’s CEO. “We really couldn’t have hoped for a better community.”

Techland is currently working at Dying Light 2, which was set for release next spring, but has been delayed. Last week, the developer’s official Twitter account shared a message from Marchewka, saying that the team needs more time to deliver on their promises. Dying Light 2 was presented at E3 2018 as a dramatically improved sequel to the original game. Most importantly, the company promised that the user’s actions will have consequences, leading to a whole new way to play. Powered by the C-Engine, Dying Light 2 is set for release on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The fans have been rewarded for their patience in waiting for Dying Light 2 with a free PC title, which is very good news. This move will protect Techland from backlash on social media, and keep the developer close to its fanbase. With extra developing time, the company wants to make sure that Dying Light 2 will be worth waiting for and up to par with players’ expectations.
