The Royal family’s Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle’s Christmas card was revealed and although the masses loved the adorable snap of the family of three, especially how adorable baby Archie looked front and center. The Duchess’ friend went public to criticize the royal family for photoshopping the card so heavily.
Markle was a budding actress when she began her relationship with Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, back in June 2016. She was set up on a blind date by a mutual friend and the two immediately hit it off. Their engagement was announced on November 27th, 2017 and announced that she would retire from acting and became a British citizen. She and Harry were married on May 19th, 2018 at Windsor Castle. Just a year later, on May 6th, 2019, Markle became a mother for the first time when she gave birth to seventh in line to the English throne, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, who is now 8-months-old.
While most royal family fans loved the adorable snap, some noticed that the photo looked photoshopped. A friend of Markle and a fellow actress went to Twitter to express her complaints about the Christmas card being so heavily edited. The original photo was posted on December 23rd of both the Duke and Duchess sat in the background as 7-month-old Archie adorably dominates the photo by crawling front and center. Fans pointed out that the photo posted to The Queen’s Commonwealth’s twitter page had evidence of them photoshopping Markle’s face to be more prominent. Having taken the original photo, Janina went to Twitter to set the record straight. She posted the original - check it out below.
Markle’s friend tweeted on Christmas Eve, “So proud to have taken the Christmas photo for one of my best friends and her family. Here’s the original that was sent out.” The actress then commented on her own photo to call out who she thinks was really responsible for the photoshopping, writing, “…and to The Mail, I see your campaign against my friend continues. Nice photoshop of my non-photoshopped image. Now may we all get back to the spirit of Christmas and not the spirit of maliciousness.”
Markle has been very open about how the British media has gone out of their way to cause drama and spread rumors. It seems to Janina that the photoshopping of the royal’s Christmas card was purposefully done by the media to continue their campaign against Markle. Photoshop or no-photoshop, the photo is adorable and the royal family deserves to have a nice photo without it being tampered with.
